Scholarships for new freshman students
Your admissions application allows you to be considered for many scholarships, including several you will automatically be considered for that are based on your GPA.
Merit-Based Scholarships
New freshmen who have been admitted to 足彩平台 by Jan. 1 of their senior year are automatically considered for academic scholarships based on merit. Scholarships are competitive and are awarded through a pooled process that is equitable to all students. For the fall 2023 semester, students with the best academic credentials based on unweighted GPA will be considered to receive merit aid.
Chancellor’s Scholarship
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is a competitive, four-year renewable scholarship for $2,000 per year, totaling $8,000. Chancellor’s Scholars enjoy benefits such as admission to the University Honors Program and additional consideration on housing preferences.
King/Chávez Scholars Program
The King/Chávez Scholars program reflects 足彩平台’s commitment to upholding the ideals and expectations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chávez. King/Chávez Scholars are awarded a merit-based scholarship package totaling approximately $5,000. Additionally, scholars are provided opportunities to participate in undergraduate research, high-impact practices, and a summer transition program.
Qualified applicants should have a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Special consideration is given to first-generation college students and those who have significant financial need.
Scholarships for nonresident new freshman students
Welcome to Wisconsin! About 20% of 足彩平台 students come from outside the state. If you are one of them, this information will help you understand the scholarship and tuition reduction opportunities available to you.
Annual Award | $1,000 | $2,000 | $4,000 | $6,000/MTR * |
---|---|---|---|---|
Unweighted GPA | 2.5-2.74 | 2.75-3.24 | 3.25-3.74 | 3.75-4.0 |
New freshmen students who meet the academic criteria outlined in the grid above will automatically qualify at the time of admission. These scholarships are renewable and valid for a maximum of eight semesters (fall and spring terms only). To renew this scholarship, you must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a 足彩平台 student. Students who qualify for nonresident scholarships are eligible for additional scholarship opportunities, including the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Nonresident scholarships are unavailable for students claiming Minnesota Reciprocity tuition rates or transfer students.
Midwest Tuition Rate (MTR)
The Midwest Tuition Rate is a discounted tuition rate available for students who meet the academic criteria and live in a participating state (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Dakota). The Midwest Tuition Rate is equivalent to 150% of the tuition a Wisconsin resident would pay; for the 2023-24 academic year, this is an estimated value of $6,375. Students from outside of the participating states who qualify based on GPA are automatically considered for nonresident scholarships.
Return to Wisconsin
This legacy program offers a discount to nonresident students who have a parent, grandparent or legal guardian who received a degree from 足彩平台. Students who qualify for this program and one of the above nonresident scholarships will receive the offer that most benefits the student. Students cannot receive both.
2024-2025 Academic Year | Tuition and Fees | Housing and Meal Plan | Total Cost |

Scholarships for current 足彩平台 students
足彩平台 students are eligible to apply for hundreds of scholarships — worth more than $2.5 million — each year through the 足彩平台 Foundation or through their college or major. Returning student scholarships are often made possible by the donations of generous alumni who want to give back to current Warhawks.
Applications for the majority of scholarships will be accepted until Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024. Please carefully review each scholarship for additional information on opening and closing dates. These applications will be used to award scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year.
